Description

Among the North-Eastern States of India, area wise Tripura is a tiny state. But politically, Tripura makes a unique case as the left Front has repeatedly won electoral mandates for almost four decades. While providing good governance, the state government has demonstrated many noteworthy aspects to achieve success. It made us curious to undertake an on-the-spot study of Tripura, its politics as well as its governance. This study is important not only from governance point-of-view but also in the larger context of national integration. States like Tripura, being in the remote corner of the country, often get less attention than what they deserve. Through this, we are also trying to do away with this visibility-backlog of Tripura to a limited extent. The Team set up for this study comprised academicians, journalists and activists as well. The team under the leadership of Prof. Ashok Modak included Prof. Avinash Kolhe, Bhagwan Datar, Prof. Devendra Pai and Soumen Mukherjee.
